The 3D reconstruction project started in Fall 2006 at Univ. of Pennsylvania. It involves data and texture collection, 3D modeling and animation.
Currently we've built 3D models with textures for the architecture by Abd ar-Rahman I, Abd ar-Rahman III and Al-Hakam II, covering the periods from 784 AD to 961 AD. The reconstruction for the rest of the mosque-cathedral complex will be carried in the future.
Meanwhile we also plan to implement an interactive version of the 3D reconstruction scene that allows user to freely navigate the mosque in real-time.
This section includes results from our project such as rendered static images and 3D animations. Go to the subsections on the left for details!
We will update this section regularly to reflect our latest progress. Don't forget to check back!
